God Is In the Little Things

I don't know about you, but often times when I read through the new testament I marvel at the big miracles the Lord performed. Even in my own life, when the Lord moves in a big way, I tend to give more praise at those times. We love to see the Lord move in big ways, but I'd like to encourage you to think about all the ways that He is in the little things, because He is always there. Ephesians 4:6 says, "one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

I recently was driving home about 11 o'clock at night and for some reason began to feel extremely tired. I started to blink for longer periods of time than I normally would. I knew at this rate I would risk falling asleep while driving on the road. Normally if I feel extra tired I tend to give a few smacks to the face, adjust my position, and turn on some jams to occupy my mind. Those typically do the trick well enough that I get home safe, but this most recent time I decided to try something new.

God Is In The Little Things - Church On A Hill

I remembered seeing a girl on the internet talk about how she always asks God for the motivation she needed to get up at 5:30am and go to the gym. At first I thought to myself, there so many bigger and more important things for God to care about it. However, I remembered that God is the almighty God (Revelations1:8), and cares about the little things as much as the big things. The Bible says, "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God (Philippians 5:7). It also says in Matthew 7:7-8, "Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

So, in this moment, while driving home at 11 o'clock at night, I decided to say a prayer. I said "Lord, please help me to stay awake so that I can make it to home safely, in Jesus name, amen!" I kid you not, immediately the presence of God came upon and I was awake.

This may seem small, but there is truly nothing more rewarding than being in the presence of God, and being able to give him thanks for all his blessings. We often think that because God is not moving in big ways that he has forgotten us or deserted us, but He has not. That is what the devil wants us to think to try and separate us from God. Don't let the devil fill your head with negative thoughts and remember this verse, " God Is Always Near, Even When We Don't Feel Him (psalms 16:8)."

One way that I remember God's presence in the little things is to write them down in a journal. I put mine in my everyday journal, where I put everything. However, you can always put it in a specific journal of God's blessing so that you can always look back and find the Lord in the little things.
